A dancer that helped shaped modern dance. Her dancing focused on a free flowing movement, emphasized by large swaths of fabric. These large cloths often brought a component of improv to her pieces as the wind gives the cloth a life of its own. 
She opened schools of dance herself and strived to break tradition. Duncan was inspired by the hedonistic and free life of the Greeks and brought this inspiration into her performances. 
Her costumes and flowing dance moves take inspiration from Ancient Greek dress and folk dancing. Her free flowing spirit radiates a sense of joy and planned spontaneity to her dancing.
